Alphington Farmers Market is a Sunday morning market held from 9am to 1pm at 2 Wingrove Street, on the grounds of Melbourne Farmers Market’s headquarters and community food hub. The site was transformed from former council offices and an expanse of concrete into a productive meeting place, giving the market a clear community focus alongside its shopping and breakfast appeal.

The weekly selection covers everyday farm and pantry produce, including fresh fruit and vegetables, free-range eggs and meats, olives and oil, honey, nuts and grains, dairy, cheeses, breads and pastries. Coffee and fresh orange juice are available on site, with options for breakfast or taking home for lunch. The stallholder list changes, and the organisers publish the confirmed traders through their newsletter and social channels before each market, so there is a reason to check ahead rather than expect exactly the same visit each week.

The market is run by Melbourne Farmers Markets, a not-for-profit, purpose-led organisation focused on Victorian producers, seasonal food, biodiversity and more sustainable farming practices. Its attending farmers and makers are accredited through the Victorian Farmers Markets Association, meaning the food they sell has been grown, reared, caught, baked or made by the people behind the stalls. That gives visitors the chance to meet producers directly and support their livelihoods, rather than simply buying through a conventional retail chain.

Alphington FM suits a relaxed solo shop, a catch-up over coffee or a practical weekend food run. It is directly opposite Alphington railway station, with bus route 508 nearby and free parking at the station car park. Well-behaved dogs on leads are allowed. The market is plastic-bag free and has a wash-up station to reduce disposable items, so bring reusable shopping bags and a coffee cup. Entry is through a voluntary $2 card-only donation, which helps fund the market and wider projects including community gardens, food access initiatives and partnerships supporting trainees and vulnerable Victorians.
