Brother Nancy

Brother Nancy is a neighbourhood café on Essex Street in West Footscray, serving all-day breakfast and lunch alongside coffee, tea, matcha, juices, shakes and other hot and cold drinks. Breakfast ranges from toast, granola and eggs cooked to order through to more elaborate plates. The Brother Nancy Fritters combine corn, cauliflower and zucchini with poached eggs, tzatziki, smashed peas and avocado, while the Turkish Eggs pair poached eggs with tzatziki, chickpeas, marinated cauliflower and za’atar sourdough. The Chapin offers a Guatemalan-style breakfast of scrambled eggs, feta, black beans, corn, guacamole and soft corn tortillas. There are also French toast, eggs Benedict, chilli eggs and a breakfast plate with sausage, bacon, mushrooms, avocado and potato hash.

For lunch, the offering includes pasta, a wagyu burger with fries, and a selection of made-to-order sandwiches and toasties. Options include a Reuben with wagyu brisket pastrami, a chicken sandwich with harissa mayo, a tuna sandwich with dill and jalapeños, and a vegetarian sandwich featuring pumpkin, zucchini, pesto, goat feta and spinach. Smaller sides and a children’s menu make it easier to tailor a meal, whether you are eating lightly or bringing the family along.
