Brunetti’s Melbourne story reaches back to 1956, when Giorgio Angele opened his first cake shop in Kew East after coming to Melbourne as pastry chef for the Italian Olympic team. He later bought the Brunetti café in 1991, and the family expanded the business across Melbourne. The Flinders Lane flagship opened in 2017, while Brunetti Oro began in 2021 under Giorgio’s son, Yuri Angele. With its broad menu and kids’ choices including pasta, pizza and chicken cotoletta with chips, the restaurant suits families and groups, while the walk-in format and all-day Italian focus also work for casual CBD meals, coffee stops and cake pick-ups.
