Darebin Parklands, at Alphington in Melbourne's inner north, is a much-loved bushland reserve following Darebin Creek. Remarkably, it was created on the site of a former quarry and tip, transformed over decades into a thriving natural space of bushland, wetlands, grassy hills and walking trails — a genuine green escape close to the city.
