Why it's worth checking out
Enlightenment is an indoor immersive light and music show at Melbourne’s Immigration Museum, presenting Vivaldi’s Four Seasons through custom-made 360-degree projections, moving imagery and sound. The experience follows the changing seasons with visual scenes designed to surround the audience, culminating in a final light tableau. It runs for about 30 minutes and is scheduled to begin in April 2026.
The setting is a central part of the experience. The Immigration Museum occupies the restored Old Customs House at 400 Flinders Street, in Melbourne’s historic Flinders Street precinct. Its grand 19th-century architecture, elegant colonnades, central courtyard and contemporary exhibition spaces provide a distinctive backdrop for the projections. The show is staged indoors beneath the building’s Renaissance-inspired arches, with the venue’s acoustics complementing the music.
This is suited to a date, an evening with friends or a family outing, as well as anyone looking for a short cultural experience in Melbourne CBD. All ages are welcome, and children under five can attend free, although seating for them is not guaranteed. Chairs and beanbags are available depending on the ticket type, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. The venue is wheelchair accessible and accepts one companion or carer card per paying ticket.
Enlightenment is a sensory experience, combining music with light projections, so it may not suit everyone. It does not use strobe lighting, but the organisers advise that it is not recommended for deaf or visually impaired guests. Visitors should arrive 15 minutes before their session; entry is not permitted more than 10 minutes after the scheduled start. Food and drinks are not allowed, there is no on-site parking, and public transport is convenient, with Flinders Street Station and several tram routes nearby.
Spot Score
The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 4.6 from 59 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
