Lola Belle

Lola Belle is a rum, daiquiri, wine and cocktail bar on Brunswick Street in Fitzroy, with a drinks list that also includes champagne and sparkling wines. The bar’s wine selection spans Australian and international bottles, with examples from Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, France, Italy and New Zealand. Wines are available by the half glass, while Guinness and XXXX Gold are offered on tap. For something warmer and more seasonal, the bar serves a spiced, spiked mulled wine.

Food is designed around shareable small plates and straightforward bistro-style dishes. Oysters are shucked to order and served with chardonnay vinegar, citrus and hot sauce, while other small plates include house-pickled vegetables, ‘Gucci’ olives, house-made focaccia with honey glaze and whipped butter, Yurrita anchovies with ricotta and basil oil, and labneh with turmeric confit garlic, mint, pine nuts and za’atar. There are also changing charcuterie and local cheese selections, making it easy to build a grazing-style meal alongside drinks.

For something more substantial, the sample menu includes braised beef cheeks with Paris mash, paccheri with lamb ragù, penne with honeyed peperonata napoli, and charred cauliflower with cannellini bean purée and confit chilli oil. The bar classics include a toasted Cuban sandwich with mojo roast pork, ham, Swiss and tasty cheese, jalapeño and Fancy Sauce, as well as a toasted poached chicken sandwich with seeded mustard and herb ranch. The venue notes that the menu changes regularly, so these dishes should be treated as a guide rather than a fixed offering.

Lola Belle welcomes walk-ins and takes bookings, with a 15-minute grace period for booked tables during busy times. Its function offering can accommodate events for up to 50 people, with options ranging from venue hire to full-service packages and tailored food and beverage arrangements. That makes it a practical choice for a casual drink, a meal built around shared plates, or a small group event in Fitzroy. It trades from Tuesday to Thursday in the afternoon and evening, from midday until late on Friday and Saturday, and from midday to evening on Sunday; Monday is closed.
