Main Yarra Trail is a riverside path for walking, running and cycling, with a section winding from Punt Road towards Grange Road and beyond. The route can be explored as shorter or longer loops, making it suitable for a quick outing or a more leisurely walk through Melbourne’s Yarra surroundings.
The trail combines exercise with ways to learn about the area. Along this section are ten Life of the Yarra audio listening stations, which can be heard at the stops or downloaded for the walk. There are also four First Nations History Markers, covering stories and figures including Derrimut, The Chief Protector, Lake Como and Turruk.
The short loop begins at Como Park and heads towards Punt Road, with an approximate 20-minute walking time before returning. The longer loop adds a further 30 to 45 minutes and passes near Kanteen café on the Yarra. Public artworks include Twisted Bell by Anton Hasell and Untitled (wilam) by Jonathan Jones. With its mix of open trail, river views, public art and local history, the Main Yarra Trail suits solo walkers, runners, cyclists and groups looking for an active way to explore the area. It is also a flexible option for families, although the source does not provide specific accessibility or facility details.
Spot Score
The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 4.7 from 66 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
