Why it's worth checking out

The JazzLab sits on Leslie Street in Brunswick, in Melbourne's vibrant inner north — the home of the renowned Bennetts Lane Jazz Club legacy. One of the city's premier live-jazz venues, it's become a beloved destination for serious music, the kind of intimate, atmospheric club where the focus is squarely on the performers and the sound.

The appeal is that classic jazz-club experience: a great line-up of local and visiting musicians, an intimate, immersive setting and the kind of close-up atmosphere that makes live jazz so special. Carrying on the legacy of one of Melbourne's most famous jazz institutions, it's a must for music lovers in a city renowned for its live scene.

With a 4.8 rating from more than 600 reviews, it's clearly delivering memorable nights. The performance line-up, show times and ticketing vary entirely with what's on, and the intimate space fills up, so it's essential to check the current program and book directly before you go — and to arrive in time to settle in, as part of the magic is the close, unhurried atmosphere of the room.

Spot Score

The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 4.8 from 607 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
