Williamstown Beach

Williamstown Beach is a broad sandy beach on the Hobsons Bay Coastal Trail, with views across Port Phillip Bay and a setting that suits an easy day by the water. Lifeguards patrol during the summer months, making it a practical choice for visitors and locals looking for a supervised seaside spot.

The beach has toilet and shower facilities, sealed paths, nearby dining options, green parks and sporting grounds across the road. Fishing is available from Eastern Pier and the rocky areas at either end of the beach, where deeper water can be reached. A nearby boat ramp and the Williamstown and Newport Anglers Jetties add to the area’s appeal for people interested in the bay.

Accessibility is a particular strength. During summer, beach wheelchairs and beach walking frames can be hired free on weekends from noon to 5pm, subject to booking through Hobsons Bay City Council’s Accessible Beach service. The beach is also within walking distance of Williamstown Beach Station, local parks and the Williamstown Botanic Gardens. Metered street parking is available along the Esplanade, and the nearest public transport is less than a 10-minute walk away.
